Iran seeks deepened relations with Russia

Iran hopes for broadening and deepening relations with Moscow after the presidential elections in Russia, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, ITAR-TASS reported.

On Sunday, March 4, presidential elections were held in Russia. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin gained 63.60 percent of votes at presidential elections in Russia after processing all protocols and won the presidential race in a single round, according to the CEC.

The CPRF leader Gennady Zyuganov gained 17.18 percent of votes, a self-nominated Mikhail Prokhorov - 7.98 percent, the head of the Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Zhirinovsky - 6.22 percent, the leader of the "Fair Russia" Sergei Mironov - 3.85 percent.

"We have a feeling that the Iran-Russia relations will strengthen", Amir-Abdollahian said. "Tehran and Moscow have a big potential in the region, and both of our countries play a significant role in changes on world arena".
