After 3 rounds Azerbaijani chess player Sarkhan Guliyev climbed to the first spot after beating Armenian Zaven Andriasyan in the third round. He now has 3 points.

The 13th Dubai Open Chess Championship for the Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Cup takes place at Dubai Chess and Culture Club. A record number of players from 41 countries and 170 players from Azerbaijan, India, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, France, Germany, England, Egypt, Armenia, Jordan, Palestine, and a group of players from Iran, and the host UAE are participating in this prestigious championship. Azerbaijan is represented by 5 chess players.
