/By Azernews/ By Rashid Shirinov The V1 Challenge 2016 championship of Azerbaijan, supported by Azerbaijan Automobile Federation (AAF), was held for the second time in the country following a 2-year break. Twelve Azerbaijani pilots were fighting for the title of the championship’s winner on May 29. The V1 Challenge 2016 took place in the vicinity of Boyukshor, the biggest lake of Absheron peninsula. The route lied around the park of Boyukshor near Baku Olympic Stadium. Following the first stage, where 12 pilots were divided into three groups, each winner of the 4-competitor races advanced to the final round. Following 2 hours of the racing, Hamlet Farajov became the champion of the competition and was awarded by a cup and money prize. Murad Hasanov (2nd) and Rahim Orujov (3rd) also were awarded by the organizers. All winners called on speed lovers to compete not on the streets, but in tracks. The first V1 Challenge Azerbaijan competition was held on October 11, 2014, also in Baku. In the show attracting 14 racers from 12 countries, Anthoine Hubert from France took first prize and was awarded with cup and 10,000 manats. The V1 Challenge Azerbaijan is a project aimed at developing the motor sport in Azerbaijan.AAF does much to popularize automobile sport in the country.
AAF brings together and facilitates the joint activities of professional and amateur organizations and people engaged in automobile sports and traffic safety in Azerbaijan. It is a full-fledged member of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The FIA, which organizes and manages various international projects in the area of automobile sports, traffic safety, and car industry innovations all over the world, collaborates with Azerbaijan Automobile Federation and supports its activity in the country.
