President of Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) Rovnag Abdullayev and Secretary General Elkhan Mammadov will participate in the FIFA Congress and the 11th Extraordinary UEFA Congress in Zurich, Switzerland.

Representatives of the 54 UEFA member associations will gather atthe Swiss city's Swissôtel Zurich to vote on several agenda items and discuss European and global football issues, including the presidency of world football's governing body FIFA.

On Friday, 209 national associations from across the globe will elect a new FIFA President at the world body's own Extraordinary Congress in Zurich.

Among the five candidates vying for the helm at FIFA is UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino, who joined the race for the presidency last October and whose candidacy was endorsed by the UEFA Executive Committee in January.

In other business at the UEFA Congress on Thursday, the associations will be asked to approve UEFA's consolidated statement of accounts and association accounts for 2014/15, as well as the European governing body's budget for 2016/17.

In addition, approval will be sought for the report of the UEFA President and Executive Committee and the UEFA administration report for 2014/15.

Amendments to the UEFA Statutes are also on the agenda. Under one of the proposals to be put to a vote, the female member of the Executive Committee would be elected for a four-year term by the UEFA Congress and would no longer be appointed by the UEFA

Executive Committee.

If the European associations accept the amendment put before them, this election would take place for the first time, as an exceptional and transitional measure, at the upcoming Ordinary UEFA Congress in Budapest in May. The term of office would last until the UEFA electoral Congress in 2019.

An Ordinary UEFA Congress is held every year. An Extraordinary Congress may be convened by the UEFA Executive Committee, or at the written request of one-fifth or more of the UEFA member associations.

The 2016 FIFA extraordinary Congress will be held at the Hallenstadion in Zürich, Switzerland, on February 26. The Congres will elect the successor to Sepp Blatter, who will step down from his position of the President of FIFA in the aftermath of the 2015 FIFA corruption case.
