Azerbaijani female boxer Yelena Vistropova weighing in at 75 kg reached semifinal of the World Championship held in Qinhuangdao, China, gaining a victory over Ukrainian Lilia Durnieva. In the semifinal bout Vistropova will face Swedish Anna Laurel on Friday.

The AIBA Women`s World Boxing Championships is one of the fastest growing competitions in international boxing. Women`s boxing has taken the World by storm ever since the first AIBA Women`s World Boxing Championships in 2001 in Scranton, United States of America. Women Boxers aged 17 to 34 compete in 10 weight categories: 45-48 kg, 51 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg, 64 kg, 69 kg, 75 kg, 81 kg and 81+ kg.

The seventh AIBA Women`s World Boxing Championships takes place from 9 to 20 May 2012 in Qinhuangdao, China and serves as the only qualifying event for the London 2012 Olympic Games. For the very first time in history, women boxers are competing at the Olympic Games, in three weight categories: 48-51 kg, 57-60 kg and 69-75 kg. With 24 quotas places (eight in each weight categories) up for grabs, this 2012 AIBA Women`s World Boxing Championships is sure to be fiercely competitive.
