The Criminal Code of Azerbaijan is expected to be amended.
The amendment was proposed by the Parliament’s Committee for Legal Policy and State-building.
According to the amendment, the people coerced women into forced marriages could face pecuniary penalty of AZN 2000-3000 or 2 years of imprisonment. If this crime is committed towards the persons under marriage age, the pecuniary penalty could rise to AZN 4000 or imprisonment to 4 years.
The draft was recommended to the parliament’s plenary session.
