“There are more than 60 thousand disabled children in Azerbaijan now.
1105 of them get education in the special education establishments, 2664 – in special boarding schools. 1353 of pupils are getting education in boarding schools, overnight at those schools. 7750 disabled children get education at home, 268 children were involved in inclusive education”, said Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov at the event entitled “Inclusive Education: experience and duties”
Mardanov said that the new projects were being developed for involvement of disabled children in inclusive education: “The state program has been developed under the technical auspices of UNICEF for this purpose and presented to the Cabinet of Ministers. The program considers the involvement of all disabled children in the education, the development of education programs for them and opportunities for their free movement in urban and regional infrastructure”.
