President Ilham Aliyev visited Guba region on Friday. The Head of State visited a Heydar Aliyev Monument in Guba and laid flowers on it. Then the President cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the Heydar Aliyev Center here.
A Heydar Aliyev Museum which has opened in the Center, houses virtual classrooms, three conference halls, computer center and library. The Center also has a national dance studio.
President Ilham Aliyev toured the Center and then met with Guba residents.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Friday inaugurated a bus terminal in the country`s Guba region. Ministry
of transport Ziya Mammadov informed on projects for reconstruction of
the transport system in republic to meet international standards. One of
such projects, according to him, is the Guba city bus terminal, with
the total construction area of 522 sqm. The 2-storyed terminal with
modern ventilation system has all conditions for passengers.
The
terminal equipped with all necessary facilities will serve the
passengers following to Baku and to the north – the Russian Federation.
The Guba region is attractive from the point of view of tourism and the
new terminal will serve the tourists increasing year-on-year.
The Head of State familiarized himself with the new busses in the terminal and gave certain instructions to the staff.

President of Azerbaijan on September 23 got acquainted with construction of the 5-star Riksos Hotel in Aski-Igrig village. The Head of State reviewed the draft of construction of the 8-storeyed hotel with 65 hectares area to have 16 cottages, a pool with 30 thousand square meters area, helicopter square, restaurants and other subsidiary facilities.
President Aliyev reviewed a documentary narrating on the construction process.
The Head of State gave his necessary instructions to the constructors.

As part of his trip to Guba region, President Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with reconstruction works carried out in Nizami cultural and entertainment park and attended the opening ceremony of the Chess School.
The Head of State toured the park and inspected the ongoing reconstruction works. The President was told that caterings and public establishments were being restored in the park. The museum of personalities featuring statutes of prominent persons of Azerbaijan was also created here.
The Azerbaijani leader also inaugurated the Guba Chess School. The President cut a ribbon symbolizing the opening of the chess school, and then toured it. The Head of State viewed photo stands reflecting care and attention of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to development of sports, in particular chess and chess players. As stated, the school includes up-to-date equipment sections, a competition hall, a computer room and six classrooms. President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done here and gave certain recommendations.

President Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with memorial complex on mass grave and construction of administration building in Guba region. As was informed the mass grave with 514 sqm area was discovered during the construction of a stadium in Guba on April 1, 2007. Upon the discovery, an expedition group was formed and an archeological excavation conducted. Bones of approximately 400 people, including those of over 50 children and 100 women, were uncovered. According to the research, the general numbers of people killed by Armenian detachments in Guba city and 122 villages of Guba district in the spring of 1918 are 3,000 and 16,000, respectively. Out of all killed, there were representatives of Jewish, lezghin, tat and other ethnic nationalities.
As stated, under the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, a memorial complex is being constructed on the mass grave to perpetuate memory of the victims and bring the truth about this massacre to the world communities.
After his visit to the area, the Head of State adopted necessary measures on creation of memorial complex in the area. The Cabinet of Ministers endorsed Plan of Action for construction of memorial. The construction works are to complete in August-September 2012.

President Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the water and sewerage system reconstruction project in the town of Guba. The Head of State was informed that renovation of the water and sewerage facilities in Guba began in August 2011 with funding from the state budget.
The project will see construction of new water reservoirs and water and sewerage pipelines. The Head of State viewed a stand reflecting the progress Azersu, stated-owned water operator, has achieved so far to reconstruct water and sewerage system in the country.
The President laid a foundation stone of the water reservoir with a capacity of 5000 cubic meters to supply people in Guba with drinking water.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the Guba-Gechresh-Gimilgazma motor highway after reconstruction. The Head of State was informed that the road, which is 22 km in length and 7 meters in width, runs through settlements with the population of more than 25 thousand people.
The Azerbaijani leader talked to local residents. Congratulating them on the opening of the road, the President said it would facilitate movement of the population and stressed its significance for development of Guba. He said the Azerbaijani government attaches special importance to rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads in rural areas.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev opened the military camp of interior troops here as part of this tour of the Guba region. Minister of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov reported to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, The Head of State saw the military camp`s model. The construction of the cantonment started in March 2010. It has a five-storied headquarters as well as quarters for soldiers and officers.
Facilities here also include canteen, medical center, ammunition depot, parking space, exercise ground, transformer substation, two artesian wells, two water reservoirs etc. The Head of State saw the photo gallery in the foyer of the headquarters and visited the soldiers` quarters.
The Supreme Commander-in-Chief got familiar with the exhibition of weapons for the personnel of the interior special designation detachment
The President was presented with a hat of the detachment. He became familiar with the canteen and medical center. President Ilham Aliyev gave his recommendations concerning operations of the camp.

President Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the cold-storage warehouse complex for fruit sorting and storing, constructed by IKAR-S LLC here. The President was told that according to the State Program on Reliable Provision of the Population with Foodstuffs in 2008-2015, National Fund for Entrepreneurship Support (NFES) of Azerbaijan funds the construction of 32 cold-storage warehouses in the regions of the country. Of them 18 have been completed and implementation of remaining projects is underway.
The Head of State familiarized himself with the apple garden in the area of the complex. He was told that area of the apple gardens in the region reached to 72 hectare in 2011. The President got acquainted with the facilities at the warehouse. The complex includes German-made cooling systems, Dutch-made ULO systems, cold-storage warehouse with a capacity of 6000 tons and laboratory. The complex will employ 54 people. The Head of State gave relevant recommendations and instructions.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inspected the construction of the Shahdagh winter and summer tourism complex in Gusar. Culture and tourism minister Abulfas Garayev told the President the construction of the complex, which is one of the country`s largest infrastructure projects, started in 2009.
The complex, located 32km from Gusar, has a total area of 2,058 hectares. The complex will offer a wide range of winter and summer tourism services, including mountain skiing. The complex will feature a hotel, restaurants, parking area, kindergarten and stores.
The complex will have an artificial snow system. The President was told of the construction of a 4-storeyed apartment building for the complex`s staff. The Shahdagh complex will also feature a youth center, club and a golf ground, as well as a large number of leisure and sports facilities.
The President inspected the construction of 4-star Resort hotel. The Head of State was told the 340-room facility will have seven floors. President Aliyev was informed that a 5-star hotel will be built near the facility.
After touring the construction site the President chaired a meeting with heads of local and foreign companies in charge of the complex`s construction. President Aliyev instructed the construction companies to make every effort to build the state-of-the-art tourism complex.
