Azerbaijan gained the first place in the international contest in Mexico.

The awarding ceremony of the winners of the international contest "Global millennium prize" on 15 global millennium challenges held in Mexico every year was held on May 12. A delegation led by chief of the Azerbaijani futurologists center Reyhan Huseynova was invited for participation in the awarding ceremony, the news service for the Azerbaijani embassy in Mexico reported.

The works by winners of the National contest of compositions held in 2009 among the Azerbaijani schoolchildren on the subject of "One-on-one with future generations". The winners of the first place in the contest from Azerbaijan became Ayan Aliyeva (Status of a woman), Aydan Khalafova (Peace and conflict), Shargiya Mammadova (Stable Development), Lala Hasanova (Information and communication technologies).

On the whole, there were revealed 10 winners, 5 from Mexico, 4 from Azerbaijan and 1 from South Korea. The awarding ceremony was held at Diego Rivera's Museum in Mexico on May 12.

The presidium of the awarding ceremony involved representatives of the government and states of Mexico, UNESCO and other international organizations, functioning in the country, as well as director of Diego Rivera's museum Carmen Geitan and Diego Rivera's daughter Guadalupe Rivera. Head of the Azerbaijani delegation Reyhan Huseynova is also in the presidium of the awarding ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Huseynova said she is proud of the victory of the Azerbaijani contestants and expressed confidence that most participants in the event received sufficient information about Azerbaijan.

Huseynova thanks the Azerbaijani embassy in Mexico for support provided to Azerbaijan's participation in this international contest in the past three years.

After the awarding ceremony, Azerbaijani contestant Aydan Khalafova gave interview to TELEVISA. The event was also attended by representatives of the government, ministry of education, NGO and mass media of Mexico, as well as Azerbaijan's ambassador in Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov.
