The cases of HIV infection increased in Azerbaijan in 2007 compared with the previous year.
APA reports with reference to the UN official website that the cases of HIV infection also increased in Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. Totally, 2.5 million cases of HIV infection were recorded in the world, 2.1 million people died of HIV in 2007.
The second regional conference on HIV/AIDS in Eastern Europe and Central Asia will be held in Moscow today.
About 2,000 representatives from 50 countries will attend the conference.
