Unknowns set VAZ-2107 car, belonging to Uzeir Jafarov, former editor of Gundelik Azerbaijan newspaper.
Day.Az reports with reference to the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety that the due information was provided by Jafarov personally.
He said the incident occurred on the territory of the Baku's 6th micro-district near the building he lives.
"Such a step was undertaken to explode my car, but, fortunately, the fire was extinguished in time", said Jafarov.
He noted that he appealed to the police this morning and officials of the 7th Binagadi police station and the fire-engine of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were sent to the spot.
It was revealed that the car wheel and its upper part burnt completely and its brake system also failed.
