"It is necessary to introduce amendments to Azerbaijan's legislation for regular review of cases of life-term prisoners".
The due announcement was made by Denis Bribosia, special representative of CoE Secretary General, at a meeting of CoE experts with officials of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Justice, regarding conditions of detainment of life-time prisoners and persons, sentenced to long term of imprisonment.
Bribosia stressed the necessity to give hope to people, sentenced to life imprisonment.
He said it is necessary to review criminal cases of life-term prisoners so that they have a hope for release.
Bribosia noted that the report of CoE Commissioner for human rights fixed the remaining problems in the sphere of human rights in Azerbaijan.
Speaking about modernization of Azerbaijan's correctional wards, Bribosia voiced support of the steps of our government in the sphere of construction of mixed correctional wards in the regions.
