Ombudsman of the Azerbaijan Republic with support of UNICEF on November 22 held a conference dedicated to the question how to create a safe world for children.
Representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as a number of ministries, departments, children organizations, international structures and mass media attended the workshop. Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova opened the Conference. Also were speaking at the event, the head of the representation of UNICEF in Azerbaijan Haana Singer, chairman of standing committee of Milli Majlis on social policy Hadi Rajabli and others. Noting that owing to intensive integration of Azerbaijan last years into the world community, realization of successful social and economic policy in the country, the level of poverty was reduced, Mrs. Suleymanova said the material well being of the population and living standard of population has improved. She emphasized, that all this has rendered positive influence on improvement of position of rising generation. It has been especially underlined, that the great leader Heydar Aliyev constantly paid attention to problems of children, pointed at the most effective way of solution of their problems, always took part in the actions, devoted to children. At the Conference also was noted that the President of Azerbaijan had signed special program connected to social protection of talented children, poverty reduction, demographical safety, etc. Quick growth of budget of the Republic in last years, increase of allowances, the funds allocated to education, public health are notable steps made in the direction of protection of the rights of children, the speakers stressed.
