The academician is going to leave for Turkey to undergo a surgery for the second time. Academic's son Elman Salayev told the APA his father's health has improved a lot after the treatment in US. "My father's eyes are in good health now. But the treatment is not over. American doctors advised him to have an operation in Turkey again."

Academic Salayev was arrested with the charges of staging coup d'etat and mass unrests. Later on his arrest was commuted due to his health problems. He received treatment in the John Hopkins Institute in the US.
