Participants of the round-table taken place on August 25 in the State Committee on Problems of Family, Women and Children, devoted to the 25th anniversary of coming into force of the Convention "On liquidation of all forms of discrimination against women" stated that the Convention on Women is being implemented in Azerbaijan.
Members of Parliament, representatives of the ministries of culture and tourism, education, foreign affairs, internal affairs, justice, labor and social security of Population, the Constitutional Court, heads of the Ombudsman Office, the nongovernmental organizations took part in action. Chairperson of Committee Hijran Huseynova spoke about Convention, its essence and value. She has noted, that this document which 184 countries have joined, reflect liquidation of all forms of discrimination against women, creation for them equal opportunities with men in the government, proportional fastening of the given rights in the national legislation and other questions. Informing that Azerbaijan joined the given convention in 1995, Hijran Huseynova has emphasized carrying out in the country of legal reforms. Special attention is given to the question of liquidation of discrimination against women, she stressed. Chairperson of Committee has noted performance of obligations in this area at a high level. Members of Parliament Hadi Rajabli, professor Rena Mirzazade, deputy minister for education Irada Huseynova and others spoke around the topic. /AzerTAg/
