3.403.982 sq. meters of area have been cleared from mines in Azerbaijan since May 8 this year.
According to APA, the mineclearance project has involved 53 mine-searchers, 17 specially trained dogs and three mechanical mine-clearing machines. The National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) reports that the representatives of the ANAMA main office will carry out a monitoring in Zobjug in the region to observe the process of mine-clearing operations 18 July. The project is carried out under the contract on clearing land areas of 2104-family new settlements for internally displaced persons in Fuzuli signed between the ANAMA and the Social Development Fund of IDPs May 8, 2006. 1900 hectares of area in Fuzuli is to be cleared from mines and UXO within 19 months in the frames of the project.
