Azerbaijani-Slavic World Public Union held an event on 15th jubilee of Slovenia Republic Independence Day.

Deputy Chairman of the Unity, Huseyn Rustambayli said that, Slovenia is one of the countries gaining its independence after 1990, APA reports.

According to him, Slovenia is the only country that will take responsibility of chairing the Council of Europe in 2008.

Stressing Azerbaijani nation to be close to Slovian nation, Rustambayli said that national hero Mehdi Huseynzade's fight against fascism and his dying in this country is a good sample to it.

According to the deputy chairman of the Unity, beginning since 1992 relations have been developing between the two countries at the Presidents' level. "Azerbaijani President supports us. I hope this cooperation will have good effects in the nearest future."

Making a speech Borud Mogushar stated that economy of Slovenia develops, which has gained its independence in 1991.

At the end of the event, Azerbaijani Slavic World Public Unity was awarded honored Diploma for the service in development of relations between the two countries.
