The Supreme Court's Plenary Session satisfied the complaint made by a life-term prisoner in Gobustan jail Samir Hajiyev, who applied for commuting his punishment to 15-year of imprisonment.

It is said in the appeal another lifer in Gobustan jail Ali Guliyev made to President Ilham Aliyev and to the media.

Guliyev wrote in his appeal sent to APA that 89 of 128 prisoners, whose punishments were commuted form death, are alive in the prison. But most of them are ill and got older. Some of them are over 70-year-old.

"We, 89 life-term prisoners appealed to all courts for commuting our punishments. Though we have not yet received positive response, commuting of Samir Hajiyev's punishment for 15-year of imprisonment is the example of the implementation of the law. But we think law must be applied for all, the rest prisoners’ demands should also be satisfied,” Guliyev underlined in the appeal.

Guliyev has been in prison for 17 years. He says they will go on hunger strike again if their demands are not satisfied.
