The experts of the World Health Organization (WHO), Naomi Boxal and Andreas Gividorf assist to the Azerbaijani Health Ministry on epidemiological supervision in the framework of struggle with bird flu.
The Working Group under the Health Ministry and WHO experts developed epidemiological card, destined for collection of preliminary information, the WHO Baku representation told Trend. "The card has been already approved by the Azerbaijani Health Ministry and recognized as national form for collection of information thought Azerbaijan," WHO stressed. The Baku representation stressed that the Ministry also approved form of official classification on determination of bird flu, Trend reports. Besides, on Wednesday the Ministry approved the form of registration of samples. "At present the Ministry considers form of monitoring of medical workers' condition. There were cases of infection of medical workers in world practice," WHO said. WHO experts Simon Mardel, on bird flu clinic, Carolina Brawn, on outbreak of bird flu, and Christina Salve, the PR manager on bird flu, who arrived in Baku on Wednesday, intend to hold trainings on world practice for medical workers. Emat Elassal will conduct trainings on laboratory examination. He will teach local medical workers of different laboratories. The WHO experts have started getting familiar with the situation in Azerbaijan and the action plan on struggle with bird flu, the press service of the Ministry told Trend. They held meetings in different Ministries, including, the Agriculture Ministry, Health Ministry, and Ecology Ministry to collect appropriate information. The guests will stay in Baku till April. On Thursday Azerbaijan sent tests, taken from patients with bird flu suspicions, to the London laboratory. It should be mentioned that WHO approved the initial diagnosis on death of 3 Azerbaijanis of bird flu.
