Azerbaijan's liberated villages are being supplied with drinking water as part of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's relevant instruction, Trend has reported.

The Azersu OJSC continues to work to restore the water supply systems in the liberated lands.

Urgent measures are being implemented to supply facilities with water in Tartar region's liberated Sugovushan settlement and Talish village, the Coordinating Headquarters established to resolve issues in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation in a centralized manner was quoted as saying.

Despite the fact that sub-artesian wells were drilled in both settlements, during the period of the occupation they fell into disrepair and were not exploited. New pumps and generators will be installed in each of the wells in the Sugovushan and Talish villages, the report added.

The specialists of Azersu OJSC assessed the possibilities of these wells and made a decision to put them back into operation.

From the location of wells to the settlements, a basic water supply line with a length of 3 km has been laid by means of polyethylene pipes of various diameters. In the village of Talish, the construction of a water pipeline has already been completed, and in the Sugovushan settlement, work is nearing completion. In general, 90 percent of the main water pipelines have been constructed.

Furthermore, from the newly built water lines, a connection to the internal systems of the facilities will be created. Completion of construction and installation works is envisaged in the near future.

To restore the drinking water supply, Azersu OJSC conducted urgent work in Shusha city, Hadrut settlement, Kalbajar, Lachin, Gubadli, Zangilan, Jabrayil, and Fuzuli regions.

Currently, the work is underway to restore Azerbaijan’s liberated territories. Azerbaijan will carry out the reconstruction on its recently-liberated territories in four stages. The initial stage includes the solution of the issues of governance and security, infrastructure, while the subsequent stages include the solution of the issues of social services activities, reconstruction, and development of the economy.

Azerbaijan allocated $1.5 billion for the reconstruction of the liberated territories in 2021. In particular, these funds will be used to restore the infrastructure (electricity, gas, water, communications, roads, education, health, etc), as well as cultural and historical monuments.
