Mehriban Aliyeva, the Good-will Ambassador of UNESCO, the first lady of Azerbaijan, was announced a Woman of the Year.
The first lady was elected was granted with the title due to results of sociological inquiry held by the Sociological Association of Azerbaijan at the initiative of the Public Union of Women-leaders. The inquiry was held under preparations for the 49th UN special session dedicated to 10th year of the 4th International Conference of World Women. A total of 2246 respondents participated in the inquiry.
