UEFA has approved Baku as a candidate for holding the 2020 European
Football Championship, the Association of Football Federations of
Azerbaijan (AFFA) told on Friday.
The decision was adopted at a meeting of the presidents and secretary
generals of national federations of UEFA members held in Croatian
Dubrovnik, AFFA said.
It will be possible to assess he chances for Baku's inclusion in the
list of 13 championship organisers after the list of rival cities is
published.
The list of candidate cities include: Great Britain (London),
Azerbaijan (Baku), Armenia (Yerevan ), Belarus (Minsk), Belgium
(Brussels), Bulgaria (Sofia), FYR Macedonia (Skopje), Hungary
(Budapest), Germany (Munich), Greece (Athens), Denmark (Copenhagen),
Israel (Jerusalem), Ireland (Dublin), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao,
Valencia), Italy (Rome, Milan), Kazakhstan (Astana), the Netherlands
(Amsterdam), Poland (Warsaw, Chorzów), Portugal (Lisbon, Porto), Russia
(St. Petersburg), Romania (Bucharest); Serbia (Belgrade), Turkey
(Istanbul), Ukraine (Kiev, Donetsk), Wales (Cardiff), Finland
(Helsinki), France (Lyon), Croatia (Zagreb), Czech Republic (Prague),
Switzerland (Basel), Sweden (Solna ) and Scotland (Glasgow). /Trend/
