An Iftar Dinner was organized at the residence of the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar on August 1.
The Ambassador welcomed the guests and read out the greetings of U.S. President Barack Obama to Muslims around the world.
In his remarks Morningstar emphasized religios tolerance existing in Azerbaijan.
"I want to note with great pleasure that the Azerbaijanis have respected the various religious beliefs and ethnic minorities for centuries. Exactly this feature we want to note today," he emphasized.
Morningstar noted during the holy month of Ramadan Muslims renew their body and soul for the new year. He said that he is happy to celebrate this holiday by carrying Iftar.
"For me, as for U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, it is honor to be the host of tonight's Iftar dinner. I know that the Ramadan is the holy month for Muslims," Morningstar said.
Head of the Caucasian Muslims' Board Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade speaking at the event, said that Azerbaijan is known to the world as a tolerant country. He emphasized that throughout the history tolerance in Azerbaijan created equal conditions for the coexistence of Jews, Christians and Muslims and this should serve as an example to the world.
Attending the event were ambassadors of different countries, public representatives, media heads and MPs.
