The Azerbaijan National Library named M.F.Akhundzade held a scientific-practical conference on “Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani folklore” to mark the 90th birthday of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.
The conference was organized b y Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Union of Ashugs and the National Library of Azerbaijan.
Prior to the conference, the participants got familiarized with the exhibition of books on the life and activities of Heydar Aliyev.
Library Director Kerim Tahirov noted that May 10 is the 90th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev. He has always paid great attention to the development and preservation of national folklore, art and culture.
Chairman of the Union of Ashugs, People’s Poet Zalimkhan Yaqub told about the great attention paid to the national leader to the ashug art, shared memories of him.
Professor Gazanfar Pashayev, director of the Institute of Folklore Mukhtar Imannov, professor of Muharram Gasimli talked about the merits of Heydar Aliyev in the development, preservation of culture, in particular folklore. It was noted that on the order of the national leader in 1998 the country has marked 1300 years anniversary of the “Dede Gorgud” epos, and in 2003, the Institute of Folklore was established.
Further, reports were presented on the topic.
