Azerbaijani Minister of Education Misir Mardanov has met with Michael Bird, the Regional Director for the British Council on the sidelines of the “Going Global 2013? conference in Dubai, the UAE.
They discussed the expansion of the activities of the British Council in Azerbaijan, application of ICT in educational system, as well as distance education, and teaching of the English language. They explored prospects for broadening the cooperation among British and Azerbaijani universities, building cooperation in the field of secondary and vocational education, and conducting the exchange of teachers and students.
Mardanov praised the results of the projects implemented in Azerbaijan by the British Council The world`s leaders of education and academics gathered in Dubai with government ministers and business leaders from more than 70 countries to discuss the role of higher education and skills in developing global knowledge economies.
This year`s theme included Global Education: Knowledge-based Economies for 21st century Nations and the program is built around three strands: Research and innovation – the role of international collaboration; Developing skilled knowledge workers: the role of international collaboration; and Internationalizing tertiary education structures and systems.
