800 houses were damaged by earthquake in Zagatala region after the last aftershock occurred at 19.15 yesterday, First Deputy Head of Zagatala Region Executive Power, Chairman of Regional Emergency Commission Elman Ramazanaov told APA.

According to him, the damaged houses are located most of all in Mamrikh, Gozbarakh, Mukhah, Zayam, Bazar, Girim villages.

According to Ramazanov, Minister of Emergency Situations Kemaleddin Heydarov, who has been in the region since yesterday, met with the local residents and inspected some damaged houses today. Minister said that the seriously damaged houses would be reconstructed and restoration work would be carried out in the houses which need repairing.

Ramazanov said that the operational group of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has been working since yesterday and the residents of disrepair houses were settled temporarily in tents: “Construction materials will be brought tomorrow and disrepair houses will be reconstructed.”

Deputy Head of Regional Executive Office said that energy supply to 5-6 villages of the region was cut: “There is no special problem in power lines here. Energy supply in the villages near the quake epicenter was suspended because of security.” According to Ramazanov, gas supply was also stopped in Zagatala region for that reason.

Ramazanov noted that there are no problems in energy supply, water and communication system in the other places of the region.

The commission chairman said there were no death cases and seriously injured people during the earthquake, but 36 people came to the central hospital of Zagatala with acute situational reaction and light injuries. One person stayed at hospital to continue treatment, others were released after receiving first medical aid.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the experts are learning the situation at site and construction companies were invited to the region to eliminate the consequences in a short time. The state of buildings is being assessed and the construction and restoration work will be started immediately.

The emergency forces installed at least 500 tents for the people, whose houses were damaged seriously and it is considered to install 1000 tents more.

The ministry established emergency headquarters in the regions of Zagatala, Balakan and Gakh. The people can address the headquarters via 112 hotline and local staffs.
