Azerbaijan’s national water operator Azersu OJSC conducted a ceremony of laying the foundation within the improvement of water supply and sewerage system of the Guba and Khachmaz cities.
The Company reports that the ceremony was attended by Azersu head Korkhmaz Huseynov, Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Shushuke Watanabe, the delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and heads of executive authorities of Guba and Khachmaz. The work in the two cities will be fulfilled within a joint project of the Government of Azerbaijan and JICA - Water & Sanitation in Small Towns.
"Water Supply & Sanitation in Small Towns implies improvement of water supply and sewerage systems in 10 cities and regions (Salyan, Shirvan, Neftchala, Barda, Khachmaz, Yevlakh, Naftalan, Khizi, Gusar and Gobustan). The loan agreement on this project was signed on 29 May 2009 in the amount for $400 million or 32.8 billion Japanese yens.
