The Association of Former United Nations Interns (AFUNI), Student Youth Organization of Academy of Public Administration under President of Azerbaijan in collaboration with British Council Active Citizens program and UNDPI held a two-day National Model UN conference on the topic “Reduction of atomic power stations for a safer environment” in Baku.

The event brought together AFUNI Vice-President Zumrud Ismayilova, Rector of Academy of Public Administration Urkhan Alakbarov, Director of British Council in Azerbaijan Paul Clementson, Representative of UNDPI Envera Selimovic and representatives from Indian and Pakistani embassies.

25 students from Baku, Sumgayit, Ismayilli, Gadabay and other regions of Azerbaijan representing more than 10 higher education institutions took part in the simulated session of the UN Security Council.

The event brought together students from Azerbaijan, US, UK, France, China, Russia, India, South Africa, Colombia, Morocco, Togo, Germany, Pakistan, Guatemala and Portugal. The event culminated in the Security Council resolution and cultural program with participation of the teaching staff of various universities, representatives of diplomatic corps and cultural centers.
