Some 1.856.312 million square meters of Azerbaijani territory was cleared of mines and unexploded ammunition in March 2012, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend on Wednesday.
As a result of operations 5,299 unexploded ammunition and 4 antitank mines were found and neutralized.
Some 484 experts participated and 118 assistants, as well as the six mechanical demining machines and 36 mine-detection dogs participated in the operations.
So far the agency cleared 187.706.473 million square meters of land, found and neutralized 670,657 mines and unexploded ammunition.
ANAMA operates in Agdam, Agstafa, Fuzuli, Tovuz, Gazakh, Ganja regions, Guzdek settelement in the Garadag district of Baku and the territory of mud volcanoes Gildag in Absheron region.
