The Palace of Happiness (Seadet Saray?) will be soon opened after a major overhaul. The Palace of Happiness is a historic building on Istiglaliyyat Street, in the center of Baku, built in Neo-Gothic style in the early 20th century. The palace was functioning as the Palace of Marriage Registrations.

Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Ministry’s spokesman Samaya Mamamadova said the reconstruction works is already completed. The extensive reconstruction work completed with careful maintenance that helped to keep all the original elements. A modern elevator was installed in the building and now the building is earthquake resistant one.  The reconstruction work was launched in 2007.

The representative of the contractor company confirmed that the repair work is close to completion.  "The opening of the palace will be held in the coming days, on the eve of the Novruz holiday. Prior to the opening, the territory adjacent to the building will be improved, new asphalt pavement will be laid on the Murtuza Mukhtarov Street and old road curbs will be replaced. The repair work also will be carried out on the Ahmed Javad Street,” he said.
