09 August 2011 [10:38] - Today.Az
A press conference will be held for refugees in connection with their eviction from compact settlement places in the former "Abkhazia" Hotel in Tbilisi at 12:00 on Tuesday.
At present, about 300 families of refugees from the Tskhinvali region reside in the former "Abkhazia" Hotel on Vaja Pshavela Ave. Their eviction is scheduled for Aug. 15.
On Aug. 5 the refugees received notifications to vacate the premises within 10 days. The refugees have lived at the hotel for 21 years.
The refugees believe that their eviction is illegal, and that the $10,000 compensation per family that is being offered, is a mockery.
They say that they expect to be evicted to Rustavi. They are unaware of any alternative accommodation, as the notification does not indicate a specific address.
