Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's government won a vote of confidence on Wednesday, clearing the way for his plans to write a new constitution.

Erdogan, whose AK Party won a third consecutive term in an election on June 12, has pledged to seek consensus to replace a charter drafted after a military coup in 1980.

Top among its priorites will also be managing an overheating economy and reining in a ballooning current account deficit.
