The "Dialogue of languages and cultures of the CIS and SCO in the 21st century" Forum to be held in Baku will be useful for the development of intercultural dialogue among the CIS countries, Sergey Lebedev, CIS Executive Secretary and Chairman of the Executive Committee, said.

"This is an important event in the sphere of humanitarian cooperation. I think it would be very useful and interesting," Lebedev told journalists on Sunday.

The Sixth International Forum "Dialogue of languages and cultures of the CIS and SCO in the 21st century" will be held in Baku on Nov. 8-9 with the organizational support of the Moscow State Linguistic University on the basis of Baku Slavic University (BSU) with the support of the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation.

The event will focus on the 20th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States and will take place in the form of plenary and session meetings, the CIS Executive Committee said. Lebedev will make a speech at the plenary meeting.

The participants will discuss the political, legal, economic, social and cultural aspects of humanitarian sector in the CIS and SCO countries; dialogue of languages and cultures in a multilingual context of humanitarian space; the Russian language as means of international and inter-ethnic communication among the peoples; literary translation as a channel of communication and interaction of cultures and languages; religious education as a dialogue between religious and secular institutions of the CIS and the SCO.
