The Iranian Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, has left Tehran for Damascus on an official day-long visit to hold meetings with senior Syrian authorities.

Mottaki plans to exchange views with Syrian officials on strategic, political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.

The sides will also discuss the latest regional and international developments.
