German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle has welcomed a decision to open a new chapter in Turkey's accession talks, calling it a "good decision in a difficult situation", dpa reported.
Germany, along with Austria and the Netherlands, had previously opposed opening a new negotiation chapter, following Ankara's recent violent crackdown on anti-government protesters.
