The terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) uses Iran's poorly protected borders for logistic purposes, Turkish Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin said in an interview with the Today's Zaman newspaper.

Sahin said that the PKK is using Iranian territory for training and treatment of personnel, as well as transportation of arms and funding.

"Compared to previous years, today PKK members move to Iranian territory easily. Tehran should strengthen the protection of its territories," Sahin said.

PKK militants systematically organize attacks against civilian population and security forces in Turkey.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has lasted for over 25 years. The PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by both the UN and the EU.
