19 May 2012 [15:42] - Today.Az
NATO Chicago summit will recognise the success of Georgia towards integration into the alliance, chairman of the Georgian Parliament David Bakradze said.
He stressed that the summit in Chicago is not a summit to enlarge the alliance, and NATO will not accept new members during it.
"We expect from this summit a clear fix on the position that Georgia is approaching NATO due to the reforms, and these signals will be clear," Bakradze said.
He said "Georgia today is close to NATO than ever before". "Even at the Bucharest summit, where it was decided that Georgia will become a member of the alliance, we were not so close to NATO," Bakradze said.
NATO Chicago summit will be held on May 20-21, and Georgia will attend it as a country- aspirant. The Georgian delegation is headed by President Mikheil Saakashvili.
