Interior Minister of Georgia welcomes Russian investments in the country if they are good for it. "We welcome any investor and any capital, including from Russia, if it serves the country's interests," Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili said addressing the government hour at the Georgian parliament.

"We are pleased that there is free movement and a lot of Russian investments in Georgia. Eighty percent of Russian investments in Georgia are the investments of state companies," he said.

Merabishvili said Russian companies intend to invest a lot of funds in the Georgian energy sector. "VTB Bank and RAO UES operate in Georgia, active investments are made," he stressed.

At the same time, Merabishvili said that "money does not smell". "Any investment and capital are welcome in Georgia, as well as anyone joining the business, which serves Georgia's interests," Merabishvili said.
