The new spheres for cooperation of Turkic-speaking peoples have been opened after TurkPA was established, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Oktay Asadov said at the TurkPA second plenary meeting.
"There was no such association as TurkPA before," he said. "It obliges us to work together to strengthen our ties. TurkPA opens up new spheres of cooperation".
He also called on to maintain and increase the general cultural values of all the Turkic peoples.
"We must use every opportunity, including such form as the parliamentary diplomacy," he said.
He said that Azerbaijan is interested in all the forms of cooperation not only within TurkPA, but also in other organizations of the international level.
TurkPA includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. The Assembly’s goal is to achieve unity of Turkic-speaking countries, discuss common issues and take decisions at the legislative level.
President Nazarbayev initiated the establishment of the Assembly. He made this proposal at the Eighth Summit of Turkic-Speaking Countries in Turkey in November 2006.
