Delegation led by OSCE PA Vice-President Wolfgang Grossruck met with chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) Ali Karimli. APFP leader told APA they discussed Azerbaijani parliamentary elections 2010, post-election situation in the country, attitude of OSCE and other international organizations to these elections and other issues. Quoting the international organization’s report, Ali Karimli told the OSCE representatives that November 7 parliamentary elections didn’t meet international standards.
He said despite OSCE recommendations on election reforms, those were not fulfilled. “We propose to fulfill these recommendations, to re-organize the election commissions and to improve the Electoral Code. He also said that the Azerbaijani community was disappointed because of Mr. Grossruck’s letter to the OSCE Chairman-in-Office”.
Special Representative of OSCE PA Andreas Nosel (Nothell) and representative of Austrian parliament Lukas Mussi attended the meeting.
Note that, during parliamentary elections held on November 7, 2010, Grossruck chaired short-term observation mission of OSCE PA, at the same time he chaired common mission of the OSCE on the Election Day. That observation mission included Nothell and Mussi as well.
