Azerbaijan's Irali Public Union issued a statement to voice a protest against the decision of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate to allocate $8 million to the Nagorno-Karabakh separatist regime.
According to the statement, the Congress` decision contradicts international law, and could hamper U.S.-Azerbaijan relationship and strategic partnership.
The statement says Nagorno-Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan the territorial integrity of which is recognized by the United States. “No country and international organization recognizes the so called “Nagorno-Karabakh Republic”, so, it can not operate as an independent state.
In this case, the United States' aid to the separatist regime leads to violation of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and sovereignty,” the statement says.
