Azerbaijani police will intensify security measures on Dec. 21 -26 because of municipal elections scheduled for Dec. 23, Press Officer of the Interior Ministry Colonel Sadig Gozalov said.

Gozalov said the Interior Ministry has prepared a plan of special measures to provide public order, security and legal rules on Dec. 23.

According to the plan, all units and departments of the Interior Ministry will switch to heavy working regime on Dec. 21-26.

Gozalov said police was urged to provide security of the candidates during the election campaign.

The plan is also includes political parties’ campaign, providing of public order and security during the meetings, as well as prevention of unauthorized actions during the election campaign and post-election period as well.

According to the action plan, the issues raised by the local elections authorities about the police activity will be expeditiously solved at site.

The plan also covers security of the international observers.
