Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vagif Sadigov has paid a working visit to India, the Foreign Ministry said.

Sadigov attended the conference “Azerbaijan – India cooperation: prospects and challenges” on the 90th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s diplomatic service organized by Azerbaijani embassy in India and Indian World Relations Council in New Delhi.

A number of researchers, state officials and diplomats delivered speeches on the themes “Historical ties between India and Azerbaijan”, “India-Azerbaijan cooperation in economic and energy sector”.

In the part on the theme “Regional security, cooperation and future opportunities for cooperation” Deputy Foreign Minister Vagif Sadigov spoke about Azerbaijan’s foreign policy priorities, the country’s activity within the framework of the international organizations, history, current state and settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Sadigov also held a number of working meetings during his visit.

At the meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of India Parbati Sen Vyas the sides discussed the current sate of the relations in the bilateral and multilateral format.

They said there is broad potential for cooperation between the two countries.

Sadigov also met with Secretary General of Indian Parliament Sri Achari.

They discussed the current state and prospects of the relations, interparliamentary relations and ways to revive them.

The deputy foreign minister also met with Indian Petroleum Secretary R.S. Pandey, Culture Secretary Jawahar Sircar, Tourism Secretary Sujit Banerjee, Secretary of Information Technologies Rakesh Singh, Secretary of Telecommunications Department P.J. Thomas. Current state and prospects of the relations were discussed during the meetings.

Azerbaijani ambassador to India Tamerlan Garayev also attended all meetings.

At the end of the visit, Minister Sadigov gave interview to a number of media outlets.
