“Regardless of scope of activities of foreign citizens, a trip to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan without formal notification and permission of the Azerbaijani side violates Azerbaijan’s laws,” Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Elkhan Polukhov said.
Writer for Istanbul-based “Aksham” newspaper Nagehan Alche recently tripped to occupied lands of Azerbaijan without Azerbaijan’s permission.
“Azerbaijan's stance on such issues remains unchanged. Those who visit the occupied territories of Azerbaijan without formal notification and permission of the Azerbaijani side are undesirable persons in Azerbaijan,” he said. “Officer of the Azerbaijani consulate in Istanbul had a phone conversation with the manager of the newspaper Ismail Kichikgaya who said that the writer did not trip to the occupied lands under editorial board’s instructions, but at her own initiative,” he said.
“We expect official reaction of the newspapers due to this fact. We will consider further cooperation with the newspaper only after it,” he added.
