Azerbaijan is an integral part of the Muslim world and one of the worthy members of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), said Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims` Board Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, addressing the Baku-host conference entitled “Inter-civilization dialogue: Azerbaijani perspective”.
Pashazade said Azerbaijan has always felt OIC`s support concerning the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims` Board pointed out “Azerbaijan enjoys high-level cooperation with OIC member nations.”
He said Azerbaijan is playing a “key” role in inter-civilization dialogue. He, in particular, praised activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in this regard.
“A model of Azerbaijan which has humanist Islamic values and rich national traditions can set an example to other countries”, Pashazade said.
Addressing the conference, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said his country has seen OIC`s “great” contribution to its foreign policy since the country became its member.
Mammadyarov said the Nagorno-Karabakh issue has always been on OIC`s agenda.
OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu hailed Azerbaijan`s contribution to inter-civilization dialogue.
