Count Peter Sheremetev denied reports of Armenian newspapers about awarding of military servicemen of the separatist “Nagorno Karabakh Republic” by him, leader of the Azerbaijan’s Russian community, member of the Azerbaijani parliament Mikhail Zabelin said at a press conference.
He presented audiotape of his phone conversation with Peter Sheremetev to the journalists.
“I am angry with this lie and slander. I don’t think that someone could present this award without my permission. I am denying this information and asking the secretariat to publish this denial”, said Sheremetev.
He confirmed that he is a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Charitable Foundation of Mercy.
“I am leaving the Foundation because of their unworthy action against me. I desire only that my denial is published in the newspapers soon”.
Recently Armenian newspapers have reported about the awarding of persons showed “heroism” in the “battles for NKR” by Count Sheremetev.
According to the reports, the awards were presented by the chairman of International Atamans Council, Cossack general Sergei Madatyan on behalf of Count Sheremetev.
Defense Minister of Armenia Michael Arutyunyan and chairman of the Union of “Artsakh liberators” Samvel Karapetyan who took an active part in hostilities against Azerbaijan were also among the awarded persons.
