The European Union intends to further deepen the partnership with three South Caucasus countries, the communique released after the meeting between the EU Troika and Azerbaijan, Armenian and Georgian foreign ministers in Luxembourg said.

A working lunch attended by foreign ministers of the three South Caucasus countries, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, representing the EU Presidency, European Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner and High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana was dedicated to the meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers.

The same day the Council of EU-Armenia and EU-Georgia met at the level of foreign ministers.  

The EU discussed prospects of negotiations on new agreements on associations with Armenia and Georgia.

The EU promised to "provide political and technical support" to the process of full normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey. it welcomed the dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which "enabled to narrow the differences" on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

EU "reiterated the commitment to further support the development of democratic institutions in Georgia."

The Council of the EU-Georgia discussed the EU's role in resolving the conflict in Georgia in the form of presence of the EU Observer Mission (ECMM), the EU's participation in the Geneva talks, its financial aid in rehabilitation of conflict-affected areas of Georgia, settlement of displaced persons and economic stabilization.

The EU reaffirmed its commitments in terms of security and stability in Georgia "on the basis of full respect for the principles of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict."
