A meeting of the Caspian littoral states' border service chiefs will be held in Baku by late 2009, Head of the State Border Service Lieutenant-General Elchin Guliyev told reporters.
Guliyev said the decision came in the April meeting of chiefs of border services of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran.
Baku will host a meeting of the coast guard organizations of these countries, Guliyev said.
Initiating strengthening security in the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan appealed to the five Caspian littoral countries to discuss the matter.
A meeting on this issue will be held in Baku by late October with the participation of experts from the Caspian countries.
