The U.S. House of Representatives discusses the issue of allocating $10 million to the Azerbaijani refugees affected by the territorial conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to the United States Yashar Aliyev said.

"At present two sub-committees and a committee of the U.S. House of Representatives are discussing to issue $10 million humanitarian assistance to the Azerbaijani refugees," he told journalists at the international conference on the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on July 8.

The issue should then be discussed at the Senate, he said. This issue will be discussed in September and even in October, Aliyev said.

Roughly one million refugees and internally displaced persons live in Azerbaijan at the moment. Some 250,000 people of them are ethnic Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia in 1988-1992.
