CEC refused to register journalists’ Free Speech Initiative Group as Propagating Group in connection with referendum to be held on March 18, APA reports.
CEC Secretary Natig Mammadov said at today’s meeting that 38 261 of 43 100 signatures of Initiative Group were valid, 4 839 were invalid. Mammadov stated that 40.000 signatures were needed to register the Initiative Group and therefore Free Speech Initiative Group was not registered. The CEC Commission passed a decision not to register the Initiative Group along with two members against the decision.
Civil Society Initiative Group was registered as Propagating Group in CEC meeting. 41 277 of 43 300 signatures of Initiative Group were valid.
